Threaded adapters allow you to use different style batteries with different style atomizers. The first number designates the battery thread and the second number designates the atomizer thread. A 510 to 901 adapter would allow you to use a 510 battery with a 901 atomizer. This is a very cost effective way to try out different battery/atomizer configurations.
