Well I had to come back to ask Avid
Posted by Gary on 23rd Jan 2016
to make my last two reviews disappear as I personally have to admit much to my embarrassment that my seemingly brilliant idea of using an O ring as a spacer in order to extend a Russian chimney top cap so this chimney will work with my V4, well it does work, sort of, but not without some slight issues called intermittent LEAKS and that's not acceptable at all for me anyhow.
I was hell bent to make this great aftermarket part work on my V4 no matter what and I have succeeded,
If only Avid were to have just built one more piece for this I'd love to have seen an extended chimney cap since all I can find is either a thread long or I'd have to buy from China and neither work for me, However I did find a REAL work around now and NO - O ring ..LOL
I told you I am serious, a seriously crazy old 60yr old vape head who's Orchid had never leaked until now, and it's NOT the chimney's fault,
Avids chimney wasn't made to work with the V4 or so I suspect, I hope it wasn't or my review would be much different,
Here's how I made it work perfectly with the Orchid v4, got to have parts though and I believe there all sold here.
You need the nano setup and your regular Kayfun/Russian steel clear center piece setup, you take a Kayfun or Russian regular chimney top cap, the bottom metal and clear section off the Kayfun and the top metal off the nano tank section and put those three pieces together and you've got your V4 Avid chimney setup to perfecto,
Then what ever top cap and it goes together perfectly on the V4 Orchid, so there you go.
Just a perfect
Thank you Avid you are the best..!!
Case closed,
Now I must have me a vape, please hold the applause, Thank you..

Forgot to say one thing in my other review
Posted by Gary on 22nd Jan 2016
People always talk about Orchid leaking and in my other review I mentioned that "I" flooded the chimney somehow, and I did, I darn well know how to build an Orchid and prior to this leaking issue with this new chimney which had nothing to do with my leak, I have never prior to this EVER had one leak, call me lucky what ever, I know how to build and this chimney just makes it that much easier, actually it never was easy to build the Orchid but what I think my problem was lack of cotton and over thinking my build now that I can actually see in there and I just Fd it up but for only a second, I'm blowing at 40w and it's just perfect, but like I said it was really hardly any juice, and it's not leaked a drop since,
So thanks Avid and folks buy these up and support Avids next brilliant project, this one really rolled my socks down and back again a couple of times, just thrilled, well obviously you think?? Ha..!!

Put the fun into the Orchid, Finally/Brilliant
Posted by Gary H. Baumgart on 22nd Jan 2016
I was so happy to see that someone finally made this two piece chimney for the Orchid and I read the entire description so I knew it was primarily coming as a part ready for a V2 so no complaints, as mater of fact not one complaint from me at all, this is absolutely the best, however I can not believe Avid didn't at least put a letter "A" or something on this part, this is one to be proud of for sure.
I've got all the orchids but I like the V4 the best and really thought any standard chimney from my Kayfuns or Russians would work, and maybe it would have, but I wasn't taking any chances with perhaps leaks from the drip tip end and specifically the O ring area for the chimney, it was just barely in the O ring using the only spare chimney I had being a Russian, all others were in use and I wasn't dumping any for a chimney top.
So what I did to make this work really well with the V4 stainless ends and the glass center section was to add an O ring on the threads of the Russian chimney cap which made it extend into the Orchids top cap that the chimney tube was exactly flush with the drip tip bottom deck and by the way Avid put enough threading on this chimney cap to do this and have threads to spare just excellent, So I thought I'd write down some measurements in case someone else wants to do this with the V4,
The Russian chimney cap OD of the threaded part is 11.92mm
The O ring I found was and I'm no expert on measuring O rings so the thickness of the O ring was 1.52mm with an ID of approx. 11.12, this made the O ring perfectly flush to the outside walls of the Avid chimney and as I mentioned the top of the chimney was perfectly flush with the deck of the drip tip stop.
Overall height of the modified chimney was then from Avids factory height of 31mm, after adding O ring and a standard Russian chimney cap to height of 32.03mm, Just Perfect.. However somehow when filling I must have flooded the chimney as some juice came out while I filled it, not much and it was straight out the chimney not from around the O ring and then some came out of the air holes when I flipped it, so cleaned it up and blew it out and that was that no problems since,
Another thing I'll say is you all are familiar with how it was difficult to fill the Orchid because of the way the chimney blocked half the bottom fill hole, well because Avid made this part as they said 1mm smaller in diameter that issue no longer exists, FANTASTIC and worth every penny IMHO.
Thanks Avid, you made an excellent part as usual..!

Allows for a lot more options

Pair this with Avid's DX Orchid top cap and depending on the version of your Orchid (v2 vs v4), you may need a longer top chimney piece (v4), or a wide bore drip tip (v2). Threads are perfect as would be expected from Avid. For me, it wasn't so much getting wick right as I've never had that problem, it was getting a top fill top cap to work (DX top cap from Avid is the best, fastech makes one for the kayfun which works as well although much cheaper and much less quality). With this, you can put whatever length chimney you need to make your tank work, whether you use a PC, stainless, or quartz, get the chimney length right and you can transform your Orchid into whatever size capacity you want. Highly recommend a top fill cap once you have this, so much more convenient to fill and tool-less. Love Avid quality, you can always count on it being top notch.

My Orchid doesn't leak anymore!
Posted by Fog Dawg on 13th Dec 2014
I hear the same thing from everybody about the "Orchid" attomizer "I love my Orchid but it leaks, My Orchid performs awesomely but it's always leaking, my Orchid is a cloud machine but i'm sick of it leaking all the time" It's all about wick position people. With this 2 piece chimney you can position your wicks directly over the juice channels that flow into the upper deck to prevent leaking. With the wicks directly over those channels your Orchid isn't gonna leak. I had heard rumors this was why mine was leaking out of the air holes. After using this two piece chimney there's not a doubt in my mind that was the problem. After adding my wicks to my coils i put the bottom chimney piece on the with my tweezers i position my wicks directly over the juice channels. I then put the upper part of the chimney on and BOOM! Add juice and since my Orchid has NOT leaked one time. This was a great idea.Did i mention how nice this thing is machined? If you're buying modded vape gear from Avid you can count on it being quality stuff. The threads on this thing is buttery smooth. Grab you one of these folks THEY WORK!

I don't know why this hasn't been made till now...

I don't know why this hasn't been made till now. I've never had a wicking issue that I know of but who knows... can't see what's going on in there.
When I first used it my suspicions were correct. The threads pulled the trailing side of the wick up and at least some of it off the deck.
Poked it down to where it should be and screwed the pipe on.
The pipe is also about a half millimeter bigger than the stock orchid pipe for those of you that have drilled the air holes, it opened it up a little bit more.
Threads are machined very nice. Flavor improved slightly I think from the dome top... at least compared to the stock flat top of the orchid chimney it has a dome shape to it.
Well worth the $8
